Standards and References

Train the Painter is a unique training package for the protective coatings industry. The training programme has been specifically developed for personnel who have an interest in surface treatment and corrosion control with the use of protective coatings.

Within the training modules you will find following International Standards and references used in the coatings industry.

  • NACE

The use of illustrations from the above organisations and standards is for training purposes only.

When conducting inspection duties always ensure you use the exact document or standards which will contain the full contents of the standard along with the quality images needed to use the standard or document.

Protective Coatings Application Training Course

The Industrial Coatings Applicator is a multi-disciplined task theat covers an enourmous amount of possible activities. This training course has been developed from basic principals to allow a new recruit entrance into the industry, training for an experienced person, and education to lead hands, engineers and assistants or third party personell. The training has been structured so that it can be completed step-by-step from the first unit to the last.

Six training modules have been developed all with a number of individual units.

A considerable amount of effort has been put into the health and safety unit and this is by far the most important module

A note about health and safety

This first module contains fourteen units and guides the user on a step-by-step basis through the somewhat complex aspect of health and safety.

The first unit wihin, is the generic 'company induction' unit. As each company's activities are wide ranging, this unit offers general guidelines on what an induction should contain.

Abrasive Blast Cleaning Training Course

It is widely accepted that the degree of surface preparation and level of cleanliness have a major bearing on the performance of a coating system.

Abrasive blast cleaning is by far the most efficiant and effective method of surface preparation.

This training course covers all aspects of surface preparation with the use of abrasive blast cleaning.

Six training modules have been developed with a number of units in each module.

Considerable emphasis is put on the health and safety, which compliments the health and safety in the Protective Coatings Application Training Course.

Paint Spraying Training Course

Within the Protective Coatings Application training you will find training units on basic paint application such as brush and roller application.

This training course was designed specifically for coating application with the use of airless spray equipment.

There is a section which covers air assisted conventional spray application, however the majority of industrial and marine coatings are applied by airless spray

Considerable emphasis is put on the health and safety which compliments the health and safety units in the industial coatings applicator and abrasive blast cleaning courses.
